Happy Birthday to Me

I am 40 today. I chose to live my life wide open and so even though I am not really thrilled about everyone knowing I'm 40 it's better than everyone knowing it and just not telling me they know. :)

I remember thinking 40 was VERY old as a teenager. Like the next step was rocking in a rocking chair on the porch, sipping tea and eating cookies. Then you were DEAD.

Well it turns out it is really no different than 39.

When I was 39 I

Played hard
Laughed hard
Loved lavishly
Was loved lavishly
Saw restoration from my Lord

Sounds like 40 is going to be pretty great!

Blessings,

  1. Happy Birthday my love!! It is such a joy being married to my best friend and favorite person to talk to. We are seeing what God will do when He is the cornerstone of a marriage. I love you fervently!!!!!

  2. Happy Birthday Heather! I remember thinking when I'm forty I'll be wise...and think differently somehow...but it's still me in here and forty isn't so bad...have a great "retreat" with your husband and we look forward to seeing you all tomorrow night!!!

    Love,
    Lori

  3. Happy Birthday, Ms. Heather. I am so glad to know you and be able to wish you Happy Birthday. Honey when you begin to think forty is old, think of almost seventy and I'm not going to quit. God has much more He wants us to do. Love ya,

  4. Heather, Happy Birthday! Well, I guess it's time for this golden oldie to get into the 21st century. This is my very first attempt at blogging. So I hope I'm doing it right! I'm like Lori, thinking that how much wiser I would be when I turned 40 and yes when I was younger that seemed ancient, but you know that's all relative. There were a couple of guys in our Sunday School class that turned 40 ahead of me and I remember thinking that they were really whimps about it. So when I celebrated 40 I embraced it and celebrated for a week. I sure didn't want to act like them. I'm still waiting on the wisdom to show up, but in the mean time I'm going to live it up everyday. I celebrate 61 in a few days. Yippee!

  6. Hi Everyone,
Thank you for your sweet comments and well wishes! Eli came down with a cold and I was not able to get out w/ J.D. so we will go in a couple of weeks. Meantime, I was able to bring a couple van loads to the parsonage so it was a great birthday! Eli is doing much better too!
